New Season In Cantona Final Part

New Season In Cantona Final part

Well the season as ended with myself in 3rd place on goal difference which would of assured me a play-off place
P W D L GD PTS
38 28 4 6 45+ 88

The team Roma Capoccia won the league convincingly in the end on 97 pts with St Helens Utd and myself on 88 St Georges 4th on 86 so a relatively good season i would still need to do well in the play-offs but id be very confident of at least making the final.

My clubs history for the season is SFA championship 3rd SFA cup Qtr final SFA non prem cup 1st round and the SFA platinum cup 3rd round

Again the downside to the season is AI games but as the gw is new it will take time for the managers to adjust and settle to there FA and i hope join the right FA based on there time online 10 managers in that league had 100% AI.

Top 11 Best Ever Players That Missed Out

A few who missed on on the top 11

The reason there is 11 and not 10 is very simple i started out with quite a few great players and started to narrow it down then it came to the last few and only 1 spot so instead of leaving out 1 i added 1 and its my list so i can have 11 if i like:).

Some greats that just missed out are Stanley Matthews , Gerd Muller , Marco van Basten , Bobby Charlton , Lev Yashin , Michael Laudrup , Billy Wright , Kenny Dalglish , Nat Lofthouse , Garrincha , Peter Shilton , Vava , Marco Tardelli , Gheorghe Hagi , Jairzinho , Hristo Stoichkov , Mario Kempes , Rivaldo , Karl-Heinz Rummenigge , Denis Law , Johan Neeskens , Pat Jennings , Roberto Baggio , Lothar Matthäus.

Now that's some of what i had and should of done a top 21 but then there will always be someone who just misses out.

Top 11 Best Ever Footballers

Top 11 best ever footballers

JOHANN CRUYYF
Johan Cruyff (1947) was the star of the exciting 1974 Dutch "Total Football" World Cup team and the Ajax team that won a hat-trick of European Cups in the early Seventies. Three times European footballer of the year, he was by far the most naturally gifted European player of his generation, and probably of all time. His supreme technical skills, speed and acceleration made Cruyff virtually impossible to defend against. He usually played the centre forward position, but would often drop deep or move to the wing to confuse and draw out his markers. His tremendous tactical insight meant that Cruyff was one of the few players in this top 10 that went on to become a world class coach.

GEORGE BEST
A superb dribbler of the ball, George Best (1946) was probably the most naturally gifted British player ever. A combination of lightning pace, perfect balance, and ability to produce goals with both feet meant that, in his prime, Best was a handful for even the most skilled of defenders. Best's annus mirabilis came in 1968, when he won the European Cup with Manchester United and was voted European Player of the Year. In the years that followed his performances on the pitch were increasingly eclipsed by his problems with gambling, womanising and drinking. In 1974 Best left Manchester United, effectively ending his career at the highest level at the age of only 27 years old.

DIEGO MARADONA
Diego Maradona (1960) won the 1986 World Cup almost single-handedly and and guided Napoli to it's only two Serie A titles. By far the best player of his generation, Maradona's main strength was his incredible technique, which allowed him to move the ball with pin-point accuracy. Maradona was voted best player of all time in an internet poll held by FIFA, much to the chagrin of Pelé-fans, who contended that such a poll was bound to attract voters who had never seen Pelé play. The title of greatest ever footballer is probably a bit too much credit for a player who also had clear short comings. Since his retirement from football, Maradona's life has been marred by drugs abuse and health issues.

PELE
Obviously Pele (1940) is not the most original choice as greatest ever football player, but there is no denying his pedigree. His deft touch, dribbling skills and tremendous goalscoring ability, would see him notch up more than a thousand goals and play a key role in two of Brazil's first three World Cup victories. He helped his club Santos win the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup twice. His finest hour came in 1970. Playing in perhaps the greatest ever World Cup winning team, Pelé was universally acknowledged as the world's best player. In 1975 he joined the NASL, and became a goodwill ambassador for football in the USA. It’s a role he has been playing ever since.

Top 11 Best Players Of All Time

Top 11 best ever footballers
BOBBY MOORE
Robert Frederick Chelsea "Bobby" Moore, OBE (12 April 1941 - 24 February 1993) was an English footballer. He captained West Ham Utd for more than ten years and was Captain of the England team that won the 66 Final. He won a total of 108 caps for the England team, which at the time of his international retirement in 1973 was a national record. Moore remains the most capped outfield player ever to play for England. He was a Gentleman and personified elegance and mastery of the tackle made famous as the defender who tamed the legend Pele.

FRANZ BECKENBAUER
This list of top 11 greatest ever football players is heavily biased towards forwards, as all these kind of lists tend to be. We make no apologies for that as it is those players that bring joy to the crowds all over the world with their goals and artistry. However, this list would not be complete without Franz Beckenbauer (1945). Nicknamed ‘der Kaiser’, Beckenbauer was the mainstay of Bayern Munich’s triple European Cup winning team of the mid Seventies. He also captained his country to the 1974 World Cup, held in Germany. An elegant and dynamic player known for his outstanding technique and tactical insight, Beckenbauer single-handedly modernised the role of sweeper.

FERENC PUSKAS
Scoring 84 goals in 85 matches, Ferenc Puskás (1927) was the stand-out player of the marvelous Hungarian national team that notched up a four year unbeaten run in the early 1950s. The "Magical Magyars" won Olympic gold at the 1952 Helsinki games, but heir most resounding victory came in 1953, when they became the first non-British team to defeat England at Wembley. They reached the final of the 1954, but with Puskas picking up an injury early on in the tournament, the Hungarians were defeated by West Germany. Puskas fled Hungary in the wake of the Soviet invasion of 1956 and went on to play for Real Madrid well into his 30's, winning numerous trophies.

ALFREDO DI STEFANO
Two-time European Footballer of the Year, Alfredo Di Stéfano (1926) is believed by many to have been the best all-around player in history. Di Stéfano was a powerful forward blessed with stamina, tactical versatility, and above all vision. He played for River Plate, Huracán, Millonarios Bogota, but was most successful in his role as conductor of Real's symphony of attacking football. After having almost been signed by FC Barcelona, he led their rivals Real Madrid to five consecutive European Cup victories. Di Stéfano won caps for Argentina, Colombia, and Spain, but never graced a World Cup. He moved to Espanyol in 1964 and played there until hanging up his boots at the age of 40

Now that's some of what i had and should of done a top 21 but then there will always be someone who just misses out.

Top 11 Best Players Of All Time

Top 11 best players of all time

There have been many great players in the history of football. A few however stand out as the truly greats. On this site we pay tribute to players like Pele, Maradona, Cruiyf, Di Stefano, Puskas, Zidane and Platini. Footballers that deserve to be remembered as the best of the best. Here's our top 11 of all time best footballers. I've started a vote and will now do a little bit on each player read them through then vote there will be 3 parts over 3 days so for todays lot we have.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE
Whether Zinedine Zidane or Michel Platini is the greatest ever French player is up for discussion. That Zidane belongs in this list of truly great players surely isn't. The outstanding player of his generation, he led France to World Cup glory in 1998 and to the European Championship in 2000. He was a superb passer of the ball first and foremost, an outstanding playmaker that fed his forwards with great passes. But Zidane could produce goals himself as well, most notably the winning goals in the 1998 World Cup Final and the 2002 Champion’s League Final. Zidane was named European Footballer of the Year in 1998, and FIFA World Footballer of the Year in 1998, 2000, and 2003.

MICHEL PLATINI
Three times European Footballer of the year, Michel Platini led France to two World Cup semi-finals and the 1984 European Championship title. At the club level he was most successful with Juventus, winning the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup in 1985. One of the greatest passers of the ball in the history of the game, Platini was also a master of the free kick. It was a skill which he had perfected using a row of dummies during training. Platini displayed a remarkable goalscoring prowess for someone who was nominally a midfielder. He scored 68 goals in 147 league games for Juventus, and was crowned top scorer of the Serie A on three three occasions.

EUSEBIO
Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (1942) scored an incredible 727 goals in the 715 matches he played for Benfica. His goals helped the club win eleven Portuguese league titles as well as the 1962 European Cup (Eusebio scoring twice in the final). The Mozambique born striker virtually single-handedly took Portugal to third place at the 1966 World Cup, scoring nine goals in six matches. Eusebio's trademarks were his speed (he was a former under-19 Portuguese 400, 200 and 100 metre champion), quick dribble, and powerful and accurate right-footed strike. Until recently Eusebio was the all-time leading scorer for Portugal, with 41 goals in 64 matches. He was named European Footballer of the Year in 1965.

New season in Cantona Part 5

New season in Cantona pt 5

To start with I’ll have a little moan on Ai games and for me its not the fact there to hard which there not in fact I’m thinking there too easy its down to the fact that so many guys join an FA that’s unsuitable creating way to many AI games for my liking I really believe that joining the correct FA is the most important thing in FML OK rant over.

SFA Championship A is starting to look good with a few teams playing 10 games or so my 5 game without loss streak started with a 0:0 draw vs. Dynamite Adidas next I had 2 wins of 2:0 and 3:0 vs. Gioventu' Littoria and SBC FC respectively next team was St Georges FC a 0:0 draw but I rate this team to challenge for the top spot with Roma Capoccia we will see if they live up too expectations. My last game was against Sebastian Town FC I won 3:0 and was my best performance so far in the league every player had a 7 min Av so now in Champ A I’m 3rd played 11 won 6 drawn 2 lost 3 with 20 points.

In the SFA platinum Cup I had 1 game a 3rd round 1st leg match Vs Scunthorpe Utd I drawn at home 2:2 so have a bit of a game on my hands here as they have 2 away goals.
So far my season in the SFA in Cantona is looking good I’m slowly climbing the world rankings 277Th but in the FA games I’m more than competing which after joining the GW late and starting out with no intention of doing well I’m happy with the teams progress I am so looking forward to the launch of my live GW Butcher.

I’m out of the SFA Cup after a 1-4 defeat Vs Nowhere was a funny game and the scoreline does seem a bit excessive but then we all say that.

My Favorite FML Player

My Fave has to be the one the only Robinho. this guy has everything. he's got flair he has power he has pace he can finish he is good at dead balls. he can do anything in the footballing world. he is also a goal scorer when used as a striker he can also play very well at AMC and AML. the only problem is he is very very expensive once he is snapped up. he also has a very high wage. in Saunders its 150K and personally i will not pay it. if he was in wage auction then i may be tempted to try and sign him.

if you want exceptionally gifted players that will last at least 5 FML seasons then look no where else. some people will do anything to get there hands on this little samba master hence his 150K wage.

there are many others that are equally as good but Robinho just beats them to it to be my Favorite FML player to date and i have been playing for a year in Feb.

How To Search For Regens

well to be successful i recommend getting JP level 3 at least. this gives you access to the Potential Rating of the players. also getting level 2-3 of individual areas gives you more Regens tho look at that maybe others wont have and therefore you have more chance of getting them on there wage demand.

here is a filter i use to get under 17s MC Regens

i always try and get PA at least 3 star because then there is less risk involved especially if you have to pay a high wage for the youngsters. i always look for free agents then i look for trials as some take them on trial to take them off the free agents list to try and hide them and catch people out. some people dont look for trials.

if you cant find anyone you like or are willing to risk buying them then there is 2 options.

either look for players at clubs already and be prepared to pay a little over MV or

wait till midnight when more regens appear. this is what you should be looking to do every couple of days to find some great Youths and if you take youth management seriously you should become succesful if you are prepared to pay high wages to make sure you get the players

New Season In Cantona Part 4

New season in Cantona part 4

As most who know me in fml will no doubt agree too I like cups and this season shall not be any different I managed to get through round 3 of the SFA cup by beating Dynamite Adidas 2:1 to be rewarded a last 16 match vs. Roma Capoicca the team that as already beat me 2 times in my league. Well have no fear I’ve booked my place in the quarter finals with a 1:2 win in extra time.

Other FA matches I've played are a SFA platinum cup 2nd round match leg 1 with a 0:4 away win vs. Xtream FC and 1 Championship game vs. AC Piddu again an away win 1:3 which puts me 9th played 7 won 3 drawn 1 lost 3 and 10 points.

I must say my new 3.5m signing John Utaka as been an inspiration he has so far played 41 games 31 goals 8 assists 8 man of the match and a 7.17 Av rating. Another player who as stood out for me is Pavel Pardo set at ultra defensive at MC with arrow going back to DM at 33yrs wont be expensive and I paid 85k which is looking like the bargain of the season so far.

Stadiums

The introduction of Stadiums is the Biggest Feature in the 1.1 update.

Stadiums

Click here for Video Footage of the Stadiums

I was going to write an article on the Stadiums myself, however having read Nik's It is great and no need to create work for myself.

TV Lounge Coming to FML

So another big change for verision 1.1 will be the implementation of a TV Lounge.

Basically the TV lounge is just another general Chat Room similar to lobby but with a big difference.

The top half of the chat room is a screen which shows incidents from games taking place all round the gameworld.

I like the idea of having another general chat room as sometimes the lobby can be busy with everyone talking about one thing and other people not getting a chance to get in and have their say on something.

With the TV lounge this creates another chatroom and another area in which people can chat away about all sorts of general nonsense, I would like to think it will become the new home for chatters as people watch some of the key moments from games all around the gameworld.

UPDATED 18th December 2008

You can now watch Footage taken today in the TV Lounge

If you have any thoughts or comments on this please add them to the comments or email the writer at martinw@yourfml.com.

The New Marketplace

Another one of the changes in the 1.1 update is the new revised Marketplace.

No longer is there a restriction on posts every 10 mins within the marketplace, instead managers now get an advertising window whilst they are online in whihc they can place their adverts.

These adverts are then in turn viewed in the new marketplace.

Below is video footage of the new look Marketplace.

Click here to view the footage

From a personal view this is great as it can consume up alot of time moderating the Marketplace in its current format.

New Season In Cantona Pt 3

New season in Cantona pt 3

My next SFA match was a FA cup 2ND round game as I got a bye in the 1st round it was against One True Albion which was pretty equal in possession and shots with the only goal coming my way in the 2ND half. I will play either TGC United or Dynamite Adidas in the 3rd round 4-1 defeat to spurs allstars in my next league match was a bit unfair IMO I played well just my 2 strikers were not doing the business so I accepted an offer of 2.8m for the ageing Antonio Di Natale 32yrs OK maybe a rash decision but he should of scored the easy chances he had.

After signing John Utaka for 3.5m I then played a Non Prem cup match was 2-0 up from 1st leg but managed to lose the next 3-0 so my best chance of a trophy as now gone. However I did manage to get through the to the 2ND of the SFA platinum cup after a 1-1 1st leg I drew the next 2-2 missing a pen in the 90+3rd minute to play extra time then pens which I won.

In the only league match I could get I had the best game Ive had in Cantona for excitement and entertainment Vs Ecko Utd it was end to end had disallowed goals and ended with myself winning 3-4 and John Utaka getting his 1st hat-trick 37’ 44’ 52’

So far SFA Championship stands with me in 5Th place having played 5 won 2 drawn 0 lost 3 with 6 points best I can hope for is a play-off place 2ND to 5Th.

Jadson

Here he is the player I would most want to sign in Football Manager Live.

JADSON

I managed to pick this player up in the Beta testing and managed to sign him in several different Gameworlds whilst I was moving around the beta gameworlds.

This attacking midfielder is highly underated however this guy was simply a mega star for me during the time I had him under my wing.

He is a classic attacking midfielder his Dribbling, Flair, Creativty, Passing and a great eye for goal too with decent Longshots and Finishing.

He is also a great penalty taker and great at whipping a cross in at corners.

The guy starts the gameworld at a bargain £110,000 and amazingly only on £2,250 wages.

At 26 Jadson has plenty of decent years ahead of him in both real life and Football Manager Live.

It is for these reasons that Jadson is the Player I would most like to sign.

A world class player on amazingly low wages.

Transfer Bid Restrictions

Version 1.1 is now entering the final stage of Beta Testing which means it is basically pretty much feature locked now.

I thought I would just mention one of the additions to 1.1 that we have not yet covered and that is the restriction Transfer Bids below market value. Managers are no longer able to make transfer bids which are below 75% of the players Market Value.

This will help the mods and gameworld managers who are always looking into transfer dealings, with this addition it means its no longer possible for players to be sold for a £1 in private Transfers.

A welcomed addition :)

I believe this was another suggestion taken from the SI forums so please keep posting your Feedback, Ideas and Suggestions as SI to take note of peoples ideas and then debate the implications and implement if they feel this would help the game progress.

16th DECEMBER 2008 UPDATE :

THIS HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO 50% OF THE PLAYERS MARKET VALUE.
